Sri Lankan President’s visit to Pakistan cancelled
Wednesday, August 20th, 2014 9:07:03 by Shakira SubhaniForeign Office officials have reportedly said that visit of the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa to Pakistan has cancelled due to the political situation and security concerns in the capital of the county.
Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s visit was scheduled to start from August 22, 2014. A high level delegation was expected to accompany the Sri Lankan president for talks with Prime Minister, President, Chief of Army Staff and other officials.
The new schedule of the visit of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa is not known yet.
Tens of thousands of supporters of Pakistan Awami Tehreek and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf are gathered in front of the Parliament House to register their protest against rigging in elections and remove Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from power.
Thousands of Pakistan army, rangers and police officials have been deployed to control the security of the Islamabad red zone area.
