Dr Qadri’s party asks LHC to dissolve assemblies
Thursday, August 28th, 2014 4:04:46 by Khalil KhanDr Tahirul Qadri’s political party Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) has filed a petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday August 28, 2014 asking to abolish the provincial and national assemblies of Pakistan.
PAT’s president for Punjab, Abdul Qayyum Khan has submitted a petition in the Lahore High Court to get the assemblies dissolved claiming that members of the assemblies no longer fulfill the criteria set out in the Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution of Pakistan.
Abdul Qayyum Khan also alleged in the petition that general elections in 2013 were rigged thus there were no basis for the elected members to retain their positions.
Imran Khan, Chairman Pakistan Tehreek Insaf, is also alleging that elections 2013 were rigged by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and other judiciary members. Imran Khan is using the statement of former additional secretary Election Commission of Pakistan, Afzal Khan, as the evidence for massive rigging in 2013 polls. Afzal Khan has admitted in his interview that he has no proof of his claims of rigging.
Dr. Qadri wants to get the assemblies dissolved and form a national caretaker government to change the system.
Imran Khan and Dr Qadri are in Islamabad along with tens of thousands of supporters to remove the Prime Minister from power and create a ‘new Pakistan’.
