FIR registered against 21 accused in Model Town tragedy
Thursday, August 28th, 2014 3:44:12 by Shakira SubhaniFirst Information Report (FIR) has been registered in the Faisal Town Police Station against all 21 accused including Prime Minister and Chief Minister Punjab in the Model Town incident on Thursday August 28, 2014 according to the ruling of the Lahore High Court.
Police registered the case under the sections 334, 149, 148, 307, 302, 109 of Pakistan Penal Code in the Model Town Lahore incident.
Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab, has also reportedly ordered the police to register the FIR according to the court’s decision.
At least 14 people died as a result of the police firing on the protesters outside the Minahajul Quran Sectariate and the residence of Dr. Tahirul Qadri in Model Town Lahore in June this year.
Dr Tahirul Qadri has accused that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif were directly responsible for the killing of the innocent people along with other 19 ministers and police officials and wanted to get FIR registered against the 21 nominated persons.
Dr Qadri has staged sit-in outside the Parliament House to protest against the killing of 14 people and remove the Sharif brothers from power. Dr Qadri has said that now the matter will be settled only after the Sharif brothers are hanged.
Dr. Qadri has also announced Thursday August 28, 2014 as the Inqilab day and said that after 3:00PM he will make the final speech and let the thousands of protesters do whatever they want to do.
Federal Ministers Khwaja Asif and Saad Rafiq who are also nominated in the FIR had announced today that government is ready to register the FIR.
