Islamic State claims to have killed 250 Syrian army personals
Thursday, August 28th, 2014 11:59:04 by Jamshed SindhuThe jihadists of the Islamic State (EI) have killed dozens of Syrian troops after taking Tabqa air base in the province of Raqa, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSDH), an NGO based in London and field staff. The military complex was conquered by the fundamentalists of EI on Sunday and after weeks of fighting.
“Dozens of Syrian soldiers, captured while trying to flee to Esraya in the province of Hama, after making the IAs airbase Tabqa have been killed by jihadists on the night of Wednesday to Thursday,” he informed Rami Abdel Rahman, spokesman OSDH.
The base was Taqba last major military complex still in the hands of the regime of Bashar al-Assad. Situated 45 kilometers from the city of Raqa, capital of the province of the same name and principal EI conclave in northern Syria, had fighter jets, helicopters, tanks and artillery.
In any case, it is unknown whether the system maintained at this potential weapons based on the time when the EI took control. Photos published by the EI show combat aircraft damaged by the impact of the fighting.
