Dr Qadri insists his supporters are peaceful

Dr Tahirul Qadri had insisted that his workers were peaceful and police started firing rubber bullets and teargas without any provocation while talking to local television channel after over 200 protesters are wounded in Islamabad on Sunday August 31, 2014.

Pakistan Awami Teheerk (PAT) workers started moving towards Prime Minister House after Dr Tahirul Qadri announced moving sit-in location towards PM House. Police allowed the protesters to move towards PM House. However, police started shelling when some of the protesters started breaking President House gate.

PAT leader Dr Tahiurl Qadri claimed that his party workers did not have sticks, stones or any weapons and were completely peaceful. However, media has shown PAT workers using sticks to beat policemen as well as used slingshots to throw glass marbles on police.

Hospital sources have not confirmed the reports of deaths during the protests though Dr Qadri had claimed death of some of his workers as a result of teargas and rubber bullet.
