Gullu Butt Claims to be a Social Worker, not Affiliated with PML-N in Any Way

Gullu Butt, the man who garnered mass media attention after being accused of damaging public property during the recent ‘Model Town’ incident in Lahore, was presented in an anti-terrorism court (ATC) earlier this week.

After the court’s proceedings, which were adjourned till Saturday (October 18, 2014), Gullu Butt spoke to reporters and stated that he is in no way affiliated or associated with Pakistan Muslim League-N or the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Nawaz Sharif.

He also went on to add that he is a social worker, with no political affiliations with the ruling party. “I am a social worker and have no affiliation with the PML-N or Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif,” said Gullu Butt.

Clips of Gullu Butt during the Model Town incident were aired on several television channels, clearly showing him breaking windows of civilians’ cars and vandalizing them in the presence of police officials.

When asked about the media coverage he has received since, Gullu Butt said that the situation was embarrassing for the country. Answering another question about his future political ambitions, Butt said that he was too upset with the whole incident to comment on the question.
