Amir Dogar Defeats Javed Hashmi in Multan by-elections for National Assembly
Friday, October 17th, 2014 10:31:41 by Hunain NaseerResults for the by-elections for the National Assembly constituency NA-149 came in, with Amir Dogar, an Independent Candidate, winning the election over Javed Hashmi and Javed Siddiqui.
According to the official results, Javed Hashmi was able to secure 38393 votes while Javed Siddiqui, the Pakistan Peoples Party candidate was able to secure 6326 votes.
Congratulating the winning candidate, Javed Hashmi also thanked the Pakistan Muslim League-N and their workers for supporting his election campaign.
Earlier, Javed Hashmi, who was part of the Pakistan Threek-e-Insaf, parted ways with the Imran Khan-led party and was supported by his previous party, the PML-N.
According to analysts, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf worked tirelessly in these by-elections due to Javed Hashmi’s parting of ways.
A total of 286 polling stations were set up in NA-149, with 144 polling stations for men and 142 for women. Reports of a small clash came in from station 132, but Rangers and Police coverage of 107 sensitive stations prevented any notable incidents.
Amir Dogar also took the opportunity to state that he fully supports PTI’s goal for a new Pakistan and termed his victory as the defeat of rulers and the success of the masses.
