PEMRA Bans Mubashir Lucman and Khara Sach after LHC Orders

After Lahore High Court’s decision against the news anchor, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) went ahead to ban Mubashir Lucman and his television show ‘Khara Such’ till further proceedings are finalized.

“We just obeyed the orders of LHC and the ban will remain in force till hearing of the case (on Nov 11) when the detailed judgment will be issued,” Pemra spokesperson shared.

The ban does not just extend to the private TV channel ARY, which has also come under scrutiny. Mubashir Lucman will not be allowed to appear on any other television channel or show either.

PEMRA’s press release issued to this effect read, “It is directed to ensure with immediate effect that Mubashir Lucman does not participate in any programme on ARY News or on any other TV channel being aired in Pakistan either as a host or as an observer or as a participant.”

The PEMRA spokesperson also shared that ARY’s management had been informed about the proceedings and any non-compliance with this directive would result in severe action against the private television channel, including license cancellation and fines.

It should also be noted that Mr. Mubashir Lucman’s name has been added to the Exit Control List (ECL).
