Senators Blame Intelligence Agencies following Balochistan Security Lapses
Friday, October 24th, 2014 10:57:03 by Hunain NaseerFollowing the suspected suicide bombing attack on the JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, senators criticized the country’s intelligence agencies for the recent security lapses in Balochistan.
MQM member Tahir Mashhadi termed the attack an “intelligence failure” during a discussion in the house regarding the Quetta attack yesterday.
In another unfortunate event, unidentified men had gunned down eight Hazara community members in the Hazarganji area.
According to Tahir Mashhadi, law enforcement agencies could, if they wanted to, take action against these militant outfits and eradicate those responsible for these acts of violence and terrorism.
“We will continue to collect bodies if operations are not carried out (against militants) in Karachi, Islamabad and Peshawar,” he said.
Similarly, Taj Haider, a member of the PPP, criticized the lackluster role played by intelligence agencies in dealing with terrorist outfits.
“There are 26 intelligence agencies in the country. And most of these (agencies) had created these terrorists. This practice must end now,” he stated.
“Although there are some groups within the government and state institutions which are patronising these militants, the nation is determined to fight militancy,” he further added.
Senator Farhatullah Babar of the PPP also criticized the government’s “unclear and flawed policy” for fighting militancy.
