China hopes Pakistan-India can Negotiate and Resolve Outstanding Issues
Wednesday, November 5th, 2014 9:49:54 by Hunain NaseerSpeaking on behalf of his government, Mr. Liu Jianchao, the Assistant Foreign Minister of China, stated that the country supported talks between its neighbours Pakistan and India.
“We strongly support improvement in relations between Pakistan and India. We appreciate Pakistan’s efforts for normalisation,” he stated earlier this week.
The statements comes in the wake of clashes between the border forces of the two countries, especially in the disputed Kashmir region.
“We hope both sides put aside their differences and come to the negotiating table to resolve their outstanding issues,” Mr. Liu further added.
Talking about the upcoming visit of Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Mr. Nawaz Sharif, to China, Liu added that the country was looking forward to it and important bilateral agreements would be signed during the trip.
“These agreements would further expand and deepen relations between China and Pakistan. Whatever the situation evolves, we will remain committed to maintain strategic partnership with Pakistan,” stated Mr. Liu.
Speaking about the recent Wagah border suicide attack in Pakistan, China’s Assistant Foreign Minister condemned terrorism, lauded Pakistan’s efforts to eliminate it and vowed to support the country in eradicating the menace.
