ANP President says Kalabagh Dam will not be allowed
Monday, November 24th, 2014 11:22:53 by Hunain NaseerSpeaking about the construction of the Kalabagh Dam, Awami Nastional Party’s president, Asfandyar Wali Khan said that the dam will not be allowed to be build and any attempts to do so will be resisted by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
This statement came in response to the one made by Chaudhry Pervez Elahi (PML-Q) regarding the necessity of building Kalabagh Dam to end the energy crises. According to the ANP leader however, the dam’s construction would devastate the cultivable lands of their province.
Speaking further, Asfandyar Wali also requested the federal government and the KPK government to look upon the plight of the IDPs and accommodate them without any political goals and aims. He recommended the government to issue relief packages and solve the problems faced by the scores of people who have had to leave their homes.
The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf was also criticized by the ANP leader for failing to bring change in their own province and termed the party’s demand for the Prime Minister’s resignation as unconstitutional. According to him, the ANP is supportive of democracy in Pakistan and the parliament is the forum for solutions to all issues.
