Clashes Between PML-N and PTI Workers Led to 1 Dead and Several Injured
Tuesday, December 9th, 2014 10:29:37 by Hunain NaseerAs Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf workers attempted to enforce a shutdown in Faisalabad after their chairman’s call, clashes erupted between them and PML-N workers, which led to the death of one PTI worker while several others, including policemen, were injured.
The clashes took place on Novelty Bridge in Faisalabad, and the deceased, Haq Nawaz, was allegedly shot dead by who PTI workers claim was a body guard of Rana Sanaullah’s son in law.
Refuting such allegations however, the former law minister has claimed that the person responsible for the shooting has been identified and his identity will soon be made public.
The law minister also blamed PTI workers for the violence, who gathered on the road leading to his residence in Faisalabad and threw stones at it.
Both parties’ workers also threw stones at each other and used clubs in the violence which ensued, injuring several activists from both parties along with policemen on duty.
Major bazaars near the Faisalabad Clock Tower, district courts, Montgomery, Jhang, Chiniot and Bhawana were blocked by activists from both parties and PTI workers blocked most roads as well in protest.
A case has been registered under the Anti-Terrorism Act against Rana Sanaullah, his son-in-law, minister Abid Sher Ali and others, including 300 unidentified people, for the death of the 22-year-old Haq Nawaz.
