Yellow Flowers Avoided for President Xi Jinping’s Visit to Pakistan
Tuesday, April 21st, 2015 11:25:00 by Hunain NaseerFor the Chinese President’s visit to Pakistan, the host country’s protocol officials were asked to make sure there were no yellow flowers on the route the visiting Chinese leader was to take for his meetings.
According to an official on protocol duty, yellow flowers are a symbol of hate in China and Pakistani officials were informed of this by their Chinese counterparts to ensure that yellow flowers were avoided.
Similarly, the Chinese protocol officials also intimated their Pakistani counterparts that President Xi Jinping was not comfortable in temperatures exceeding 24 degrees Celsius, which meant that all the meeting halls and buildings the Chinese leader was to visit were kept at 24 degrees temperature.
Moreover, the host country was also requested to ensure that whenever flags of both the countries were displayed, the Chinese flag was kept on the right side.
Pakistan’s President Mr. Mamnoon Hussain had summoned a joint sitting of parliament on Tuesday, where the Chinese president was scheduled to address the parliamentarians, who were instructed to reach Parliament House early in the morning.
President Xi Jinping was also going to be received today at the Parliament House by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Kulsoom Nawaz and the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ayaz Sadiq.
During his visit, President Xi Jinping will be laying the foundation stone for the solar energy project that will power the parliament building with 1.2 megawatts and is expected to be completed by September this year.
The Chinese leader will also be meeting leaders of both houses of the Parliament and the opposition before his two-day visit to Pakistan ends and he leaves for Indonesia.
