US Secretary of State John Kerry Applauds Pakistan’s Anti-terror Efforts
Monday, September 28th, 2015 10:12:38 by Mike RossU.S. Secretary of state John Kerry met with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during the gathering for the 70th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The two discussed regional security issues and the PM took the chance to express his concerns about India’s violation of the ceasefire agreement along the line of control. He however assured Mr. Kerry of Pakistan’s commitment to deal with the matter through dialogue.
The Secretary of State expressed his deepest condolences over the recent terrorist attack on the Pakistan’s air force base in Badaber. He also lauded Pakistan’s anti-terror initiatives and Pakistan’s role in restoring stability in Afghanistan.
Mr. Kerry also discussed issues of bilateral cooperation with PM Sharif and told him the U.S President, Barack Obama, looks forward to welcoming him at the White House in October.
Pakistan has been a front-running ally of the United States in the war against terror post 9/11 and has suffered several attacks on its home soil in the fight.
