4 TTP Associates Arrested for Planning a Suicide Bomb Attack
Wednesday, January 6th, 2016 3:50:57 by modousarrFour men with links to the terror designated group Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan also known as TTP, were arrested in Karachi’s Phase 1 neighborhood on Wednesday.
According to South Deputy Inspector General DIG Dr Jamil Ahmed, the police acted on information given by a credible source who claimed the four men were planning a suicide terrorist attack. The police then proceeded to mount an investigation that led to the arrest of the suspects.
The four men have now been identified as Nadeem Kala alias Hanif, Ashraf Ali alias Bhaloo, Rehmat Shah and Zahid Hussain.
From the arrest site police uncovered 4 kilograms of explosive material, some bomb making materials, four pistols, suicide jackets and a shopping bag containing ball bearings.
The group is also suspected to be involved in the 2011 Ghas Mandi Gambling den blast which killed at least 15 people, in sectarian violence.
Similarly, the police at the time announced the arrest of 4 individuals suspected of being behind the attack, with links to TTP
The TTP claimed responsibility for the shooting of a retired army Major Raza in the DHA Phase 1 neighborhood in December 2015.
Dr Ahmed also stated that nine First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered against the 4 suspected would-be-suicide-bombers relating to arms possessions, possession of explosive materials and police encounters.
