U.S. President Barack Obama Predicts Pakistan Will Be Embroiled In Turmoil For The Forseeable Future

During his address to Americans Mr. Obama warned that Afghanistan and Pakistan were countries that would continue to face instability and turmoil in the coming future. This is because although IS militants are concentrated in the Iraq and Syria region, they are also establishing bases in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Obama was sending the message to US law makers that they needed to back his administration’s efforts to defeat them, he urged them to vote on it.
He cautioned that inaction is effectively a way of allowing for instability and the creation of safe heavens for terrorists.
“Instability will continue for decades in many parts of the world – in the Middle East, in Afghanistan and Pakistan, in parts of Central America, Africa and Asia,” he said.
“Some of these places may become safe havens for new terrorist networks; others will fall victim to ethnic conflict, or famine, feeding the next wave of refugees.”
It is important to note that this was Obama’s last State of the Union address for his final term, he used it to talk about security risks to the US in the next 10 years and beyond. In this regarded he emphasized that America will always be ready to take unilateral action if necessary, to protect their people and their allies, but on issues of global concern will mobilize the world to work them and make sure other countries “pull their own weight”.
President Obama also used to the occasion to warn US politicians to refrain from anti-Muslim rhetoric, he stressed that anti-Muslim sentiments expressed at the highest levels of American power hurt American efforts to combat terror globally. He strongly criticized Donald Trump and his supporters for using anti-Muslim rhetoric for political gains and said that this “may work as a TV sound bite, but it doesn’t pass muster on the world stage”
This was the highlight of his speech earning him applause and standing ovations.
He mentioned the nuclear deal with Iran and restoration of ties with Cuba as some the best achievements of his administration.
