MQM Heavyweight Raza Haroon Joins Kamal

Mustafa Kamal, former Karachi mayor, succeeded in dragging Raza Haroon into his unnamed party. Raza Haroon is known as a Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) heavyweight.

“We are focused on the work we intend to do. Name, planning and branding come later,” Haroon said while talking about the party that Mustafa Kamal and Anis Kaimkhani declared earlier this month. The party would supposedly be named on March 23.

After Altaf Hussain left the party, accusations arose claiming that MQM workers’ allegiances were being ‘forcibly changed’.

Raza Haroon  blamed Altaf, claiming that his stepping down was enough reason for other party members to take a leave. He evinced that whenever non-conformist deserted the party, “they [the MQM] claim it is a conspiracy against them. No conspiracy is needed. You [Altaf] are more than enough.”

According to the former MPA who expressed the diminishing conditions of MQM, claiming that the party had reduced from a party of literates and literacy to one of embarrassment.

In discussing MQM Altaf Hussain’s suspected intoxication while giving a speech to supporters, he stated, “Sometimes we had happy hour… Then that happy hour became happy 24 hours.”

He further said “Happy hour has been increasing… Pay attention to what time it is in London.” The entire community and party had to apologize for the act.

He described the Lahore High Court (LHC) ban on Altaf Hussain as a “blessing in disguise” and believed that “the ban should stay in place”. He went on to say that Altaf Hussain would be removed from within if the ban should be lifted- “Minus one” that is MQM without Altaf will happen from inside.

“There is no need for conspiracy,” he said. “Your marketing is enough for self-destruction of the party.”

According to Haroon, the party’s leaders were delighted over the ban and did not repeal the ban in court.

“The MQM was not made to worship one person or ensure the satisfaction of one person… What MQM representative has not said the things I am saying today?” he asked.

Addressing Altaf Hussain, Haroon asked “United Nations and Nato forces are invited to Pakistan. Even RAW is called to come to Pakistan. When are you coming to Pakistan yourself?”

The Mohajir community has been labeled as “RAW” agents and has been suspected for funding crimes.

“It’s been one year since the BBC issued RAW-funding allegations against the party and its leadership but the party has yet to approach courts over these allegations.”

He was the belief that accusations against the MQM ought to be examined. Anis Kaimkhani supported this, claiming in a press conference, that no documents or evidence had been given for investigation.

Raza Haroon hailed Musta Fa Kamal and Anis Kaimkhani, former MQM members for their relentless press conference held on March 3rd.

“The courage required to take such a step, we saw on March 3 in the guise of Mustafa Kamal and Anis Kaimkhani. I was watching the press conference on TV in London and thought, ‘They are doing the right thing’. Everyone watching is thinking the same thing… Everyone is tired of this.”
