Nanga Parbat Attacker Included In The 13 Terrorist Death Sentences, Army Chief Ratifies

The death sentences of 13 ‘hardcore militants’ including the Nanga Parbat terrorist responsible for the annihilation of foreign tourists was confirmed on Tuesday by General Raheel Sharif, the Chief of Army Staff.

The sentenced terrorists were tried by military courts for their participation in the Nanga Parbat attack, assaults on armed forces, law enforcement agencies and civilians, including the demolition of schools and the Saidu Sharif airport.

The army chief, on January 1, confirmed the death sentence of nine terrorists also condemned by military courts.

The ISPR revealed the following information about the convicts:

Irfanullah S/O Khudayar

A vibrant member of the TTP, Khudayar participated in the deaths of 10 foreign tourists near Nanga Parbat Base Camp. He was found in possession of fire arms and admitted to his offences before the magistrate and trial court. He was indicted on three charges.

Mushtaq Ahmed S/O Muhammad Miraj

Tried on six charges, Mushtaq was also involved with the TTP and was convicted for his involvement in the killing of the Metrological department employees, the assault on the Saidu Sharif airport and the destruction of an educational institution which led to deaths and injuries.

Muhammad Nawaz S/O Gul Muhammad

Similar to the previous two, Nawaz was a member of the TTP. He was indicted on three counts, including his involvement in the attack of armed forces and possession of arms and explosives. He admitted to his crime.

Taj Gul S/O Sultan Zareen

Admitting to his offence which included an attack on the LEAs resulting in death of police officers and personnel and the possession of arms and explosives, he was charged and convicted, receiving the death sentence.

Asghar Khan S/O Azizur Rehman, Ahmed Ali S/O Bakhat Karam and Haroonur Rasheed S/O Mian Said Usman

These three men have the same characteristics as the previous convicts. All three were a part of the TTP and retained a large amount of arms and explosives. They were involved in the attacks against the LEA, the armed forces and educational institutions. They all admitted to their offences and were prosecuted on six, three and seven counts respectively.

Bakhte Ameer S/O Ameer Zareen

Zareen participated in the attack against army personnel, to which he admitted before the court. He was convicted on three counts and was sentenced to death.

Aziz Khan S/O Ashber

Aziz Khan was tried on three charges and was involved in the death and injuries of soldiers in Gulibagh when a communication system was destroyed. He was also in possession of a suicide jacket. He was a member of the TTP.

Fazale Ghaffar S/O Shehzada

Shehzada did not relent in attacking armed forces and retained a suicide vest. He was convicted on four charges to which he admitted and was also a member f the TTP.

Asghar Khan S/O Ahmad Jan

Khan was tried on five charges and was found liable for his involvement in the attack of LEAs and demolition of educational facilities.

Ikramullah S/O Habibullah

This convict was found in possession of explosives and arrested for his involvement in the assault of armed forces and destruction of army’s helicopters. He was convicted on four charges for his offences.

Haider S/O Daim Khan

He killed civilians in Quetta City and possessed fire arms and explosives. Admitting to his offences, he was charged on five counts and was sentenced.
