Thursday, April 7th, 2016 5:19:36 by fatimaarshadA Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) agent was captured in Pakistan on 3rd March, 2016, by the officials and now the Indian authorities have asked for consular access to him. Kulbushan Jadhav, is currently under investigation by the Pakistani authorities, in light of his confession statement which detailed his account of how he was working against the interests of Pakistan.
According to the details obtained, Foreign Office spokesman Nafees Zakariya recently told the press that India has asked for access to Jadhav and that the government is considering granting this request.
“We have sought consular access to him. India has no interest in interfering in internal matters of any country and firmly believes that a stable and peaceful Pakistan is in the interest of all in the region,” said a statement issued by India’s Ministry of External Affairs.
Jadhav was captured from a small town in Balochistan called Chaman and later it was found out that he is a retired Navy officer and agent of RAW, who was working from Iran. He had apparently set up an office in Chabahar in southeast Iran in 2003 and later was recruited to work for the Indian intelligence agency.
After this revelation, the interior ministry of Pakistan sent a letter to Iran’s ambassador in Islamabad, asking for explanation. The letter elaborated how an Indian spy working from Iran was captured and that he had made ‘startling revelations’ in his confession. It was also asked of Iran to share Jadhav’s list of activities and the names of people he met, while he was in Iran.
