Air Forces of China, Pakistan initiate dual training exercises
Monday, April 11th, 2016 9:28:37 by modousarrChina’s defence ministry in a statement issued on its website disclosed that china and Pakistan are taking steps towards strengthening military relations by launching joint training exercises.
The statement revealed, “China’s Air Force hopes to widen the scope of cooperation and dialogue with all countries and regions.” The exercise called “Shaheen V”, is set to operate until April 30.
The two countries’ relationship is strengthened by their age-old vigilance of their mutual neighbour, India, and their objective to guard against the United States have power or influence in Asia.
On Thursday, Muhammad Ashfaque Arain, Pakistan Air Force second-in-command in an interview with Reuters said, “the bulk of the burden was now borne by a fleet of US-made F-16 aircraft.”
He conveyed that he considered the acquisition of more F-16s as economically impracticable and instead, Islamabad plans to invest in a joint fighter built with China, the JF-17.
Pakistan’s air force is outdated and reliant on an equally old-fashioned armada of US, French and Chinese fighter jets, they are looking to improve its air force, dreading that it can do little to protect them against Indian craft or pursue local terrorists.
China has relentlessly implored Pakistan to expel alleged Xinjiang militants who are suspected to be residing in the clannish regions on the Pak-Afghan border.
