NAB Officer Suspended As Investigations Ensue Into Alleged Salon Attack
Tuesday, April 12th, 2016 10:19:37 by modousarrThe deputy director of The National Accountability Bureau (NAB, Mir Ausaf Ali Talpur, has been suspended for invading a beauty salon in Karachi, physically abusing its staff and raiding the entire place with his wife because they suspected salon workers of stealing her gold chain.
A reliable source from the NAB disclosed that according to the orders released from the NAB headquarters in Islamabad, an NAB team has been formulated and tasked to probe into the case and suggest a solution if he winds up guilty of the crime.
The source added, “If the internal inquiry doesn’t find him guilty, he will be back in his office,”
He further went on to say, “The internal inquiry is conducted by NAB officials themselves. It’s nothing new as in the past several internal inquiries were conducted against NAB officials for different complaints lodged by different individuals and institutions.”
Our source, however, withheld his comments when asked about the likelihood of Mr. Talpur emerging not guilty, even though CCTV cameras installed at the salon displayed his men invading into the place after the internal inquiries have been conducted and the end results of the previous investigations.
The NAB officer’s wife Hina Khan was featured in another video which went viral on social media, presumably taken with a mobile phone. In the video, she was creating an uproar, yelling threats at the salon staff like it could “cost them heavily” as they “don’t know who I am”.
The proprietor of the salon has issued a complaint against MR Talpur, his wife, and other officials who were involved in the incident. The complaint which belongs, to NAB under Sections 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), 395 (robbery) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code, was registered by the Sharea Faisal police.
