Tuesday, April 12th, 2016 11:21:16 by fatimaarshadPakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) is making headlines these days but all for the wrong reasons. A male nurse employed at the hospital in Islamabad, allegedly raped a 20-year-old girl, who was a patient at the hospital and was undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.
According to the details provided of the incident, the staffer has been identified as Krishan Kumar, and police found out that he was wanted for a similar crime earlier as well. The previous rape case had been registered against him at the Margalla Police Station. Despite this, he was working at PIMS, and no one knew about his past record.
An FIR has been registered against Kumar at the Karachi Company Police Station in Islamabad, but so far the authorities have not been able to arrest him because he escaped and his whereabouts are still unknown.
The incident took place on Sunday night at 2 a.m., when the patients were all asleep in the ICU. The victim is a 20-year-old disabled girl from Sawat, who had been at the hospital for the past month for treatment. When her mother discovered this horrific incident, she reported it to the hospital authorities, but they employed delaying tactics and tried to brush the incident under the carpet. However, the media found out about it and now an official investigation has been ordered by the Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif. If found guilty, strict action will be taken against not only against the culprit, but also the hospital management for delaying justice.
