Army prepares to put an end to Chhotu gang’s siege

The operation enters its 21st day today and even though it was started by the police, the army had to be called in due to the failure of the police. The dacoits ended up killing six policemen and they are still holding 18 others hostage.
According to the details provided, the army personnel have really tightened their noose around the dacoits and they were given the deadline of 17th April, to hand back the policemen held as hostages or else face the consequences. So far, no updates have emerged regarding what happened after the deadline expired.
The operation is taking place around a small island in the Rajanpur district of Punjab. The 10-kilometer long island is said to be a haven for dacoits and criminals led by notorious gangster called Ghulam Rasool alias Chhotu.
The security operation currently involves more than 1,600 security personnel and according to reports, they have left no area left for the criminals to escape. It has also been reported that now no policeman is involved in the operation as the army has completely taken over and so far around 100 facilitators of the Chhotu gang have also been arrested.
The operation is certainly reaching its climax and according to reports, the hospitals around the area have been put on alert. Emergency has been declared in Sheikh Zayed Hospital, Rahim Yar Khan and Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ) in Sadiqabad.
