Inzamamul Haq takes pay-cut to become chief selector of Pakistan cricket team

The former cricketer will be officially joining the Pakistan Cricket Board on the first ever permanent position as chief selector. According to sources, the PCB was just waiting for Inzamam to reach the decision whether he will be taking up this offer and now the official announcement will be made tomorrow.
The 46-year-old cricketer was coaching the Afghanistan Cricket team and he recently resigned from that post. The chairman of PCB, Shaharyar Khan told reporters that all the issues related to Inzamam’s release from the ACB have been sorted and the new contract has been extended to him.
“He is our choice given his vast experience and the board has reached an agreement with Inzamam after the Afghanistan board agreed to release him,” said Shaharyar.
News of Inzamam’s appointment as chief selector was met with positivity in the cricket world. “We opted for Inzamam as we wanted to bring in someone who had played modern day cricket and who commanded total respect in the cricket circles,” Shaharyar added.
Inzamam is actually taking a pay-cut of Rs. 0.4 million, as he was earning Rs. 1.2 million as the head coach of the Afghanistan team and now he will be earning Rs. 0.8 million as the chief selector.
The Pakistan cricket team in undergoing a major revamp after its dismal performance during recent matches and this move is part of those changes.
