2016 Hajj Brings Personal Tracker For Every Pilgrim

Pakistan has shown its eagerness to monitor each of its Hajj pilgrims by equipping them with lockets or bracelets with the ability to keep track of their movements and location to ensure that no one goes missing should a stampede arise.

This method was put in place due to the tragedies that occurred last year during the Hajj, leaving people looking for their relations.

Religious Affairs Minister, Sardar Yusuf told reporters on Monday, “Each pilgrim will be tracked and accounted for.”

Long discussions were held and finally the decision was made to grant devices for protecting Pakistani pilgrims from disappearing during accidents.

He further went on to explain that the trackers will be linked to a centrally controlled monitoring system working 24 hours in both cities of Saudi Arabia.

Sardar Yusuf, in reference to residential difficulties for pilgrims, claimed that the decision had been made for Pakistani pilgrims to reside within 500 meters of the holy places in Makkah and Medina.
