Two major suspects in Kasur Sex Scandal case awarded life sentences
Tuesday, April 19th, 2016 3:51:14 by fatimaarshadThe major culprits of the Kasur sex scandal that made major headlines last year, have finally been awarded with life sentences for their heinous crimes. An anti-terrorism court judge, Chaudhry Muhammad Ilyas heard the case on Monday and handed out the punishments to the accused.
The two convicts, Haseem Amir and Faizan Majeed, had been in prison since August, 2015-the time the sex scandal case was discovered. They were awaiting their sentence and had initially appealed against the charges levied on them. The court awarded them their punishment under the Pakistan Penal Code Sections including PPC 377 (unnatural offences), 293 (sale of obscene objects to young person), 385 (putting person in fear of injury in order to commit extortion) and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
The main culprit behind the Kasur sex scandal, Haseem Amir, was initially nominated in two FIRs numbered 288 and 250. However, one of the FIRs was retracted after the complainant and the brother of the victim had taken back their statements due to pressure from Amir and Majeed.
One of the victims of the accused, named Musharraf, is the only one who came forward with the allegations and remained persistent in following through. He did not succumb to the pressure of the culprits and eventually, this helped in sealing their fate.
In addition to Musharraf’s testimony, photogrammetric tests were used by prosecution in order to prove the crimes of the culprits. Video clips sent to the Punjab Forensic Lab, were analyzed and the identity of the perpetuators of the crime was revealed as that of Amir and Majeed.
