Investigations in Orangi Town police shooting reveals weapon used 17 times before

The weapon which killed seven policemen in Orangi Town, Karachi, has been analyzed and it shows that it has been used 17 times before. Since the shooting which took place yesterday, forensic teams are busy evaluating the evidence in an attempt to uncover who is behind this horrendous crime.

The weapon which was used, was found at the crime scene and it was picked up by authorities. The 9mm pistol which was used to killed the policemen, was used during the time frame of 20th September, 2014 and 22nd September, 2015. Other evidence is also being taken into consideration in order to bring up a conclusive report.

The first attack against the policemen took place at the crowded Bangla Bazar, where some policemen had stopped at a roadside restaurant to have their meal. While they were still there, two unidentified gunmen came on a motorbike and shot dead three policemen.

The second attack took place a short distance from the first one and CCTV footage shows a police van moving at a very slow speed and later coming to a halt. A policeman gets off from the vehicle and walks towards a lane, from which a gunman emerges on a motorbike and shoots the officer. Another gunman comes along and checks whether the policeman is dead, he then collects his weapon and both the gunmen flee the scene. On their way, they shoot three other policemen who were performing duties to protect a polio team.

It seems that these attacks took place to discourage the polio teams from performing their duties. This is not the first time that this has happened as since July, 2012, at least 89 people, related to the polio drive, have been killed in Pakistan.
