PTI MPA Sardar Soran Singh killed over Political rivalry: Police
Monday, April 25th, 2016 1:05:43 by fatimaarshadPakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s minority MPA, Sardar Soran Singh, was killed over political rivalry and not by the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), according to the latest reports by the police.
A press conference was held by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Malakand Azad Khan earlier today, in which he gave details over Soran Singh’s assassination case. Khan said that Singh’s murder was carried out by a political rival and it was not an act of terrorism, as previously claimed by the TTP.
Singh’s murder was planned out by Baldev Kumar, who was Singh’s fellow PTI leader, and who wanted to contest the same minority seat which Singh had won from in previous elections.
“Baldev Kumar wanted to contest the election instead of Singh… after failing to get the party ticket, Kumar planned the murder,” said DIG Khan.
According to further details provided by DIG Khan, six suspects were arrested in connection with Singh’s murder and upon interrogation, Baldev’s intentions were discovered. Baldev hired a target killer to carry out his mal-intentions and the target killer was arrested as well.
Baldev was arrested by the police on Sunday from Barikot tehsil of Swat. He was then shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation. Eventually Baldev admitted to having killed the PTI lawmaker over political rivalry.
Sardar Soran Singh was a special assistant to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on minorities’ affairs and an MPA. He was shot dead in a targeted attack near Pir Baba in Buner district on Friday.
