Umar Akmal, Ahmed Shehzad land themselves in separate controversies
Tuesday, April 26th, 2016 12:34:52 by fatimaarshadCricketers Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad are not new to controversies, and this time around, they have landed themselves in separate scandals.
It was reported by different news channels on Monday that Umar Akmal was found involved in a fight which took place in a theater in Faisalabad.
According to sources, the brawl reportedly took place when the cricketer demanded for a repeat dance performance at the theater. When the administration refused to oblige to his demand, Akmal broke out in a fight.
Initially Akmal’s identity was not discovered at the theater, but once the fight broke out, someone from the audience recognized him. It was also reported that Akmal was accompanied by fellow cricketers Awais Zia, Bilawal Bhatti, Mohammad Nawaz and Shahid Yousuf. However, Akmal denied these claims and said that he was at the theater alone.
Upon being questioned about the incident, Akmal asked for his privacy to be respected. “If I am breaking any law then the government reserves the right to arrest me,” he added.
He urged the media to judge him only on his performance on the field. “It’s my personal life and I went to watch theatre alone,” he said.
Meanwhile Ahmed Shehzad was involved in a rage-related scandal during a match against Balochistan at Pakistan Cup on Sunday. He reportedly smashed the dressing room’s window, after he failed to complete a century and was caught out at 79 runs.
Both these incidents are being investigated by Pakistan Cricket Board’s department of security and vigilance.
