Curfew imposed in Srinagar due to JKLF leader’s funeral
Wednesday, April 27th, 2016 10:19:53 by modousarrFuneral processions for deceased Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) supreme head Amanullah Khan have prompted Indian authorities to impose a curfew and other restrictions in India-held Kashmir’s Srinagar.
The JKLF head died at 8:30am, on Tuesday from a chronic pulmonary disease at the age of 85 after he was admitted to a health facility in Rawalpindi a week ago.
The party’s chairperson, Yasin malik was arrested by Indian police and is currently bmeing held in Rajbagh police station after they pillaged his home in Srinagar’s Maisuma area.
Indian troops and police officials have been positioned in Srinagar to prevent people from reaching the Lal Chowk region where the funeral prayers are to take place this afternoon. All routes to Lal Chowk have been closed.
Khan’s death reflects a conclusion to his steady and tough efforts for the reunion of Jammu and Kashmir and its materialization as an independent country.
