Wednesday, April 27th, 2016 7:23:47 by fatimaarshadA man set his wife on fire over a domestic issue in Chuna Bhatta, which is a small town in Sukkur. According to the details provided by the police, the suspect, identified as Jawed Gadani, torched his wife after she refused to succumb to his unreasonable demands.
The incident took place within limits of the New Pind police station, where the case was registered.
The police reported that Jawed Gadani married Shabana Gadani who also happens to be the suspect’s cousin. It had just been three months since the couple got married but fights erupted between them quite frequently.
Jawad was a gambler and a drug addict. Due to his expensive habits, he used to force his wife to bring money from her father very frequently. Whenever she refused, Jawad would allegedly beat her up.
A few days back, he once again asked Shabana to go to her father and ask for money. When she refused, he tortured her. Having enough of his beatings, Shabana left her husband’s house and moved back in with her parents.
Jawad became enraged over this and he, along with his brothers, Saeed, Riaz and Imtiaz, broke into his in-laws house on late Sunday night and set his wife on fire before fleeing.
Shabana was rushed to the Civil Hospital, Sukkur where doctors reported that 70 percent of her body is covered with burns.
A case was registered against Jawad and his brothers at the New Pind police station. While Jawad has been taken into custody, his brothers are still at large.
