The MQM Senator Mian Attiqui submitted the list to the court on behalf of the Party and aggrieved families.
The senator disclosed that the list was exhaustively detailed and included relevant information including the missing persons’ identities, residential address and the place they were picked up from. The MQM alleged that Rangers picked up most of their missing workers.
According to the MQM senator, most of the missing workers were abducted from their residences. Attiqui said, “Out of 100 party workers who went missing in 2016, 90 per cent have been picked up from their houses by Rangers,”
He also said, “We have lodged FIRs for all our missing party workers in respective police station of Karachi.” adding that the list did not include party workers who have already appeared before a court of law.
The MQM held a protest demonstration in April, near the Chief Minister’s House against what it termed the “enforced” disappearance of its workers.
Partakers in the protest, including women and children, carried placards and portraits of their loved ones and demanded their “immediate release”.
After hearing the case of the missing persons’ on March 18, Chief Justice Anwer Zaheer Jamali lead the MQM to submit the list of its missing persons to go after the case.
Senator Attiqui affirmed, “The court will reconcile list with the original missing persons’ case.”
