2015: Almost A Million Workers Emigrated Pakistan
Sunday, May 8th, 2016 8:57:29 by modousarrA Senate panel, on Thursday, was informed that about a million Pakistanis emigrated for better work opportunities in 2015 only.
On Thursday the Senate Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development was notified that since 1971, more than 9 million Pakistanis emigrated through the aid of the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment.
The figure increased drastically in the previous year when 946,571 Pakistanis relocated other countries
Since 2013, more than 2.32 million Pakistanis left the country for better prospects. Included in these figures, six percent moved to Gulf Cooperation Council countries, another one percent moving to the European Union and other developed countries; three percent to Malaysia, South Korea, Libya and more.
Expatiating on the issue, Khizar Hayat Khan, the Federal Secretary for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, highlighted how Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa characterized 12 percent of Pakistan’s entire population at home, but only comprising 26 percent of Pakistanis overseas.
In the same vein, about 0.5 million persons from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) have jobs abroad. He claimed that those people were sending back huge sums of money back home but facilities in those respective areas were not showing any improvements.
Admitting to the system of corruption in operation, he was of the opinion that the only way to get rid of it is to computerize the system of applications.
Senator Lieutenant (retd), Abdul Qayyum evinced the all-too-present corruption in acquiring protectors, requesting for background checks and tough training and grooming.
Following the information given by the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation Director General Rana Matloob regarding how there were just seven protectorate offices in the country, th panel headed to try and establish additional offices of Protectorates of Emigrants.
