Trump calls London’s Muslim mayor an exception to proposed ban on Muslims
Tuesday, May 10th, 2016 12:22:53 by fatimaarshadRepublican presidential candidate Donald Trump recently made a generous exception to his ban on Muslims rule, for the recently elected Muslim mayor of London, Sadiq Khan. Trump, who asked for a temporary ban on Muslims entering the United States following attacks on Paris and California, said on Monday that he would make an exception Khan.
During an interview to the New York Times, Trump said that there will always be exceptions to his rule of Muslim ban. When asked about how he felt about Sadiq Khan, the son of a Pakistani immigrant bus driver and a seamstress, becoming London’s Mayor, Trump said that he was happy about it.
The real estate billionaire further added; “You lead by example, always lead by example. If he does a good job …that would be a terrific thing.”
Trump who is in the running to become the president of the United States in the upcoming election put forward the idea of banning all Muslims from entering the US after attacks by Islamist militants in Paris and California last year.
Many of Trumps rivals termed the proposal as counterproductive, contentious and contrary to American values. However, there were a lot others, who agree with Trump and are vouching for him in the upcoming elections.
Meanwhile Khan himself is unsure whether he will be allowed to visit US if Trump becomes the President. “If Donald Trump becomes the president I´ll be stopped from going there by virtue of my faith, which means I can´t engage with American mayors and swap ideas,” Khan said.
