Woman Strangled To Death In Suspected Honor Killing
Tuesday, May 10th, 2016 6:47:29 by modousarrHussainabad, on Sunday, witnessed the strangulation of a woman in the jurisdiction of Paharipura police station.
The deceased had been identified as 40-year-old Nadia, by an official of the Paharipura police station.
“She was the mother of three children and had been divorced by her husband,” he said. “Two months ago, she rented a house in Hussainabad area and started living there.”
Making a statement, Faqirabad ASP Wasim Riaz claimed that Nadia had initially relocated back to her father’s house in Taru Jabba, Nowshera following her divorce.
“Her family’s rivals repeatedly said Nadia’s husband had divorced her due to her bad character,” the ASP said. “Nadia had moved to Peshawar two months ago. She had started living in a rented house.”
Based on the information given by Riaz, the deceased’s ex-husband, Atlas Khan, had been issued an FIR as a result of her complaints.
“There are a few things in the case that remain a mystery,” he said. “For instance, her three children, who also lived with her, were taken away by her brother a few days back.”
The deceased’s family members gave differing statements, which according to Riaz, raised suspicion.
It is the police’s belief that the woman had been a victim of an honor killing.
