Friday, May 13th, 2016 11:51:44 by fatimaarshadFamous Hollywood director, Steven Spielberg has expressed his wish to make a movie on the abduction and subsequent escape of Ali Haider Gilani. The director, known for making movies such as Jurassic Park and Saving Private Ryan, wants to capture what really happened with Ali Haider while he was in the captivity of Taliban.
According to the details provided, Spielberg called up Ali Haider on Friday and congratulated him on his safe recovery. He further shared his idea of making the movie and added that he wished to visit Pakistan with his team and make the movie here.
So far, it is not known whether Ali Haider conceded to the proposal. During his first interview after his release, when asked about his plans to release a memoire of the entire experience, Ali Haider said that he had no such plans. Based, on this, it is likely that he will turn down Spielberg’s offer.
Ali Haider Gilani was abducted by the Taliban back in May, 2013, while he was campaigning in Multan for the upcoming elections. The Taliban opened indiscriminate fire on Ali Haider’s entourage resulting in his body guard and security guard’s death. They took him away in a black Honda and kept him in captivity for three years.
While he was held hostage by the Taliban, Ali Haider talked to his family only once. Exactly after a year of that call, the US and Afghan forces conducted a joint operation in which they retrieved Ali Haider safely from the Taliban.
