Two police officers have been suspended from their posts after Lyari gangster Uzair Jan Baloch named them as accomplices during his investigations.

Efforts are being made to bring the accused to justice and punish the police officers who were involved in unlawful activities with Uzair Baloch. The Lyari gangster has given names of officers who helped him in carrying out crimes.

The two SHOs who have been suspended from their duties are; SHO Shah Faisal colony, Banar Hameed and SHO Brigade, Haji Sanaullah. Others who have been named by Baloch include; Abid Tanoli, Javed Baloch and Imtiaz Tanoli.

A special probe team comprising of SP Sadar Dr Samiullah Soomro, SP City Shehla Qureshi and the ASP Clifton has been formed in this regard. The team will be assisted by Special Branch and Intelligence Bureau (IB) to carry out the investigations.

Uzair Baloch was arrested by the Rangers in a special operation conducted in the Lyari area, earlier this year. So far, nine cases have been lodged against him. Four of these FIRs were lodged in Kalakot and Maripur Police Stations while the rest were registered in Kharadar and Eidgah Police Stations.

Uzair Baloch was arrested back in January this year from Karachi, while he was attempting to enter the city. He was handed over to the Rangers for a 90-day period for interrogation and after his release, the Sindh Police took him into custody.

Baloch has been cooperating with the authorities so far, and is giving out names of people who have been involved in crimes with him.
