She was seen in Karachi with politician Sharmila Faruqi and now the purpose of her visit has been revealed.
It has been reported that Margarita With a Straw actress has teamed up with Khamosh Pani director Sabiha Sumar, in order to make a documentary by the name of Azmaish-Trials of Life.
It was learnt at that time that Koechlin visited Karachi and was on her way to Islamabad. Now details reveal that she visited other places in Pakistan as well including Thar and other parts of Sindh.
News sources revealed that Koechlin and Sumar’s documentary is going to capture the lives of people living in the two countries and their religious dynamics, and violence stemming from extremism.
The places to visit in Pakistan were decided by Sumar whereas Koechlin and her team decided which places they will cover in India.
“This project had been in the works for three years. When I met Kalki as a jury member at MAMI (Mumbai Film Festival) last year, she struck me as someone who empathises with the world and is concerned about its issues. When I told her about the idea for my film she immediately came on board as the Indian partner. She visited Pakistan for the first time earlier this year and we travelled across deserts and mountains. The idea was to capture how two women feel the pulse of the two countries,” said Sumar.
The documentary is still in its production stage and in order to get more funds for it, the duo has resorted to crowd-funding. According to Sumar, people who will contribute more than $250 for the movie, will get access to stills from the shoot.
