Mullah Mansour frequently travelled from Karachi airport

The former Taliban leader, believed to have been killed in a US air strike in Balochistan, used to travel a lot to Dubai. The purpose of those visits is still unknown.
Mansour was travelling from Taftan to Quetta when his vehicle was destroyed by a US drone. Both him and his driver were killed in the attack. Documents recovered from the site of the attack shows that Mansour had a fake ID card with the name Muhammad Wali printed on it. Other than the name, all of his credentials were correct.
According to the details released by a senior official of an investigation agency, Mansour frequently travelled between Karachi and Dubai via the airport and between Iran and Pakistan via the border town of Taftan. In fact, Mansour was travelling from Taftan to Balochistan when his was killed on May 21, at around 3 PM, in the Kochki area of Nushki district.
The official also told reporters that Mansour’s passport showed valid visa of both Dubai and Iran and it was issued from Pakistan. The passport was twice issued to him from Quetta and it was valid up till October, 2016.
Mansour’s ID card was also issued to him from Quetta in 2002 and it was renewed from Karachi in 2012.Mansour started travelling abroad from March, 2006 and his last visit to Dubai was on March 31, 2015.
“He visited Dubai 18 times using Karachi airport on valid visas and once from Quetta airport,” said a senior government official. “We have no idea what the purpose of his frequent visits to Dubai was.”
While the US and Afghanistan have confirmed Mullah Mansour’s death, Pakistan has still not confirmed it. Investigations into his death are going on and so far his dead body has not been claimed by any of his relatives.
