Ukranian woman recovered from Tharparkar
Tuesday, May 24th, 2016 12:34:43 by fatimaarshadA 31-year-old Ukranian woman was recently recovered from Tharparkar after remaining in ‘captivity’ for three years. According to the details provided, the woman, identified as Katrina, was kidnapped three years ago from Rawalpindi and since then, she had remained in the village of Katho which is located in Tarparkar.
“A joint team of Rangers and police raided the village following a tip-off that a foreign woman was present there and we found Katrina and also arrested her suspected kidnapper, Abdul Munaf Nohrio,” a police official told reporters.
Katrina’s alleged kidnapper, Abdul Munaf Nahrio, is not in police custody while Katrina has been transferred to Rawalpindi.
Katrina was already married to a man based in Rawalpindi with whom she also has a son. Speaking in broken English and Urdu, she told police that she was kidnapped from Rawalpindi and taken to Tharparkar by Munaf.
However, some other sources claim that Katrina and Munaf befriended each other on Facebook and they started talking to each other regularly. Katrina later went with Munaf of her own free will and that she was never kidnapped.
Even Munaf’s parents claimed that Katrina was not kidnapped and that she was ‘bought’ by their son from Rawalpindi. They said that Munaf married Katrina and they were living as husband and wife.
Meanwhile, a First Information Report no. 130/2013 was registered against the abductor at a police station in Mandrah, by Katrina’s first husband. Their son even wrote a letter to the Ukrainian embassy, asking them to help find his mother.
