The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is on a hunt to retrieve all illegally encroached land and in this matter, Bahria Enclave has come up on top of the list. According to the details provided, PAC asked the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Thursday to demarcate and retrieve land worth Rs 2.3 billion in Kurri Village, which has been encroached by Bahria Enclave.

It was reported that Bahria Enclave was sent a similar notice by the CDA back in 2012 but till date, nothing has been done in that regard. An audit report showed, that Bahria Enclave is sitting on 1,542 kanal of encroached state land.

Records also show that the civic agency on November 7, 2012, issued a final notice to Bahria Enclave and asked to vacate the land or face the consequences. Instead of carrying out the threat, the CDA turned a blind eye towards the issue and till date, the property giant is still in illegal possession of that land.

A report on the issue also claimed that a road had been constructed on the encroached land by the Bahria Enclave administration. According to the rules, if any such construction takes place on encroached land, the authorities can demolish that.

According to section 49-C (1&2) of the CDA Ordinance 1960, the deputy commissioner CDA could retrieve the encroached land as the section also empowered him to demolish properties built on any encroached land.

The PAC has given directions to the CDA to demarcate the land and retrieve it from the private housing scheme.
