Hafeez likely to miss England tour due to knee injury
Monday, May 30th, 2016 5:04:34 by fatimaarshadPakistani opening batsman, Mohammad Hafeez will most likely miss the upcoming tour of England, after it became apparent that his knee injury is getting serious.
According to the details provided, Hafeez underwent an MRI scan at the Aga Khan University Hospital in Karachi and the results revealed that the condition of his knee has not improved.
Hafeez injured his knee two months ago during the Asia Cup T20 in Bangladesh. Apparently, he did not receive proper treatment by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) doctors at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), resulting in a weak knee problem. Hafeez also participated in the ICC World T20 in India in the month of March, further aggravating his injury.
After things became serious, Hafeez consulted Crystal Palace football club’s Pakistan-born doctor, Zafar Iqbal, who advised him to get an MRI scan. Now Hafeez will head back to the same doctor for further consultation and he is even willing to undergo surgery if it is required.
“I want to play cricket as soon as possible. This injury has not disheartened me,” said the batsman while talking to DawnNews.
Due to the 35-year-old’s bad knee, he even skipped the two-week long fitness training camp at Pakistan Military Academy in Kakul. Hafeez’s name was initially included in the 21-man probably list for the tour of England, but now it seems that someone else will have to replace him for the tournament.
Hafeez made his international debut in April 2003 in a One-Day International (ODI) against Zimbabwe at Sharjah. He has 5,356 runs in ODIs under his belt, with an average run rate of 32.46.
