Mullah Mansour’s body handed over to his family

Mullah Mansour was the fugitive leader of the Afghan Taliban who was killed in a US drone strike in Balochistan, last week.
“Family of Taliban leader took his body to other side of the border,” the Interior Minister said during a press conference.
Responding to criticism for delaying the identification of Mansour’s body, the interior minister said; “How could we have identified body of Mullah Mansour before DNA test which requires time”.
The confirmation of Mullah Mansour’s death were made by both the US and Afghan forces after he was killed in the airstrike. After a few days, even the Afghan Taliban confirmed their leader’s death and appointed a new one in his place. Despite these confirmations, the government of Pakistan did not acknowledge his death until yesterday.
Khan said during the press conference, that Mansour’s body was handed over after conducting DNA tests and ensuring that it was indeed him who had died during the drone strike.
He further added that all those who verified travel documents and identity card of Mullah Mansour have been arrested and they will be dealt with harshly. He further added that the man who issued a fake Pakistani CNIC to Mullah Mansour in 2002, has also been arrested.
Mullah Mansour was killed in a US drone strike while he was travelling from Taftan to Balochistan. The attack on Mansour on Pakistani soil was considered a violation of its sovereignty and was condemned by the leaders.
