Three Pakistani Men Arrested and Suspected of Sexual Assault in Germany

Three Pakistani men have been arrested by German police and suspected of being involved in sexual assaults reported by 18 women at a music festival.
Authorities said on Tuesday that the women who were mostly young were surrounded and touched by crowds of men in an incident similar to the series of assaults during the New Year’s festivities in Cologne.
Police issued a statement saying “the women have reported that they appeared to be men from the South Asia region”. Authorities are currently searching for another two or three men suspected of taking part in the crime.
Law enforcement agencies are currently conducting investigations to find out if the three suspected Pakistani men are also robbed the women in the latest attacks at a four-day open air music festival in the western city of Darmstadt.
The attack raised concerns about the influx of over one million chiefly asylum seekers, mainly from the Middle East.
Far-right groups protested against these asylum seekers and dubbed them “sex jihadists” and “rapefugees” in intense debates.
The suspects, Pakistani asylum seekers aged 28 to 31, were arrested when three women had filed charges, an additional claimant also came forward later.
