Poor security at Sindh Assembly revealed by TV channel staff, Staff arrested
Wednesday, June 8th, 2016 7:38:28 by sallyOn Friday, some staff members of a private television channel were arrested from Sindh Assembly grounds after an incident occurred where one of the TV employees tried to uncover the poor security measures by taking a gun into the building.
The employee had hid the gun in his clothing and entered the house in order to prove that security arrangements were not up to par. He then appeared before the speaker and revealed the weapon.
Sindh Assembly opposition frontrunners criticised those responsible for the building’s security and provincial government. Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani called for an investigation into the case..
Provincial Interior Minister Suhail Anwar Siyal, instructed the speaker to command the detention of the armed ARY employee and the team behind the News programme instead of focusing on the poor security measures at the building.
“I request you to order the assembly’s security staff to keep them in detention until police arrive to arrest them for the crime,” Siyal asked the speaker.
Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly Khawaja Izharul Hasan and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) MPA probed the speaker about inadequate security measures for the assembly building “which is already receiving threats from banned organisations”.
Izhar lividly stated, The Sindh government is spending millions for the security of the house but this did not stop an armed man from sneaking into the house undetected.
