Court denies suspect Sonia’s release in Haleema murder case
Thursday, June 16th, 2016 2:02:19 by fatimaarshadInvestigations into the Haleema murder case are still underway and according to the latest developments, a court order denied the release of suspect Sonia.
A sessions court on Thursday, announced its decision to not release Sonia, who is one of the primary suspects in the Haleema murder case. The court rejected the police report which requested Sonia’s release. As a result, Sonia was sent to prison on a five-day remand.
The Investigating Officer (IO) of the case, Hameedullah Khan, had submitted a report for Sonia’s release on the basis of criminal procedure code’s section 497. Khan said that there was no evidence found against Sonia.
“If evidence found against Sonia, then she will be arrested again,” said Hameedullah Khan.
However, the court rejected this notion, pinpointing towards the possibility of her involvement in Haleema’s murder.
The main suspect in the case is Sonia’s husband Rizwan, who appeared in the court along with his wife. During the hearing, the IO presented the report of the investigation. An interim challan of the case was presented in the court and a request was submitted for Rizwan’s physical remand.
Khan said that Rizwan’s interrogation has to be continued due to which the police requires more days for the remand. He also added that mobile data is yet to be recovered.
Lost boy Abdullah was brought to the Edhi Center by a man named Faizan last month, after which the mysteries of this case began to unfold. Abdullah’s mother Haleema, was found dead at her home in Delhi colony and it was later discovered that Rizwan and Sonia had some part to play in her death.
Till now, Abdullah remains in Edhi Center, where he is being looked after by their staff.
