Woman slashes-off mother-in-law’s nose during argument

A woman allegedly cut-off her mother-in-law’s nose during an argument which turned ugly on Monday in Okara district.

The suspect, identified as Saima Bibi is a resident of Maal Mandi Mohalla, Haveli Lakha and she is living with her in-laws and husband there. Apparently arguments between herself and her mother-in-law, Zulaikha Bibi, were nothing new and the entire family was suffering because of it.

According to the details provided, Saima Bibi used a sharp knife to cut a part of Zulaikha Bibi’s nose. After being attacked, Zulaikha started screaming in pain and neighbors gathered around the house. They eventually entered the house and took her to the Okara District Headquarters Hospital where she is being treated now. Doctors treating Zulaikha Bibi said that she is currently in critical condition.

A case has been registered against Saima Bibi and her brother Azam, at the Haveli Lakha police station. Investigating officer Afzal Jatoi told reporters that at the time of the incident, Saima Bibi’s brother and father were also with her.

Saima Bibi’s husband, Imtiaz Noor filed a complaint with the police station and the case has been filed under Sections 336 and 337 of the Pakistan Penal Code (injuring a person, shajah [injuring someone without causing permanent damage].

Imitaz Noor talked to reporters and told them that Saima Bibi’s family was very interfering. . “Her family has been interfering in our life ever since we got married…we had been arguing almost daily because of them,” he said.

Saima Bibi has apparently confessed to the crime and is currently being held in custody.
