Self-proclaimed social media sensation Qandeel Baloch took the internet by storm when she posted pictures of herself with Mufti Abdul Qawi, who is an Islamic scholar and head of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Islamic wing.

The pictures showed Baloch posing with the Mufti and in one of the pictures, she is seen wearing his hat while he is busy talking on the phone. Although the pictures themselves are harmless, the media storm that they have created is causing a lot of stir.

After Baloch and Qawi’s selfies made the rounds on the internet, both of them were contacted by different news channels to explain the background behind these pictures. Both the parties gave opposing views of what actually happened, turning the entire case even more interesting to the public.

Mufti Qawi told a news channel that it was Qandeel Baloch herself who had expressed her wish to meet him in Karachi. “She wanted to have a meeting in order to get rid of a magic spell. She put my hat on her head, and took a selfie while I was busy on phone,” he said.

Meanwhile Baloch maintains that Mufti Qawi was the one who expressed his wish to meet her. “Why would I ask for a meeting with him…in fact, he had told me during a TV program that he would like to lay his eyes on my face before witnessing the moon of Ramazan,” she said.

The war of words continued between the two, and both of them continued to give their own accounts of the encounter.

Meawhile Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has issued warnings to shows in the past, for encouraging content which violates the code of conduct and this incident also happens to fall in that category where PEMRA has to keep an eye out for such violations.
