Police still unable to locate Sindh judge’s son
Thursday, June 23rd, 2016 2:13:54 by fatimaarshadIt has been more than two days now that the son of Sindh’s top judge was kidnapped in broad daylight from a posh area in Karachi, and still there has been no trace of him.
Advocate Awais Ali Shah, the son of Sindh High Court Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, was taken away by unidentified men from outside Agha’s Supermarket in Clifton on Monday afternoon. Since then, a massive search is underway but till now, the police have been unable to locate Shah. Even his kidnappers have not made any contact with Shah’s family.
Despite this being such a high-profile case, the police failed to gather any clues which can lead to Awais’s recovery. Infuriated by their non-performance, Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah suspended SSP District South Dr. Muhammad Farooq and Clifton SSP Amjad Hayat. It has been learnt that these senior officers were suspended because apparently they had been informed of the kidnapping on time, but they did not order immediate action.
Meanwhile law enforcement authorities are now trying their best to locate Shah and so far they have arrested nearly 50 suspects. However, they still have not been able to trace a white Axio car which is believed to have been used by the kidnappers.
Although nothing can be said for sure right now, it is being speculated that Shah must have been kidnapped by outlawed militants or sectarian extremist groups. “We are also questioning the Da’ish-inspired group of Saad Aziz because we believe some offshoot of this group might have kidnapped Advocate Avais to avenge (the arrest and conviction of) their accomplices,” one official privy to the investigation told reporters.
