Woman claims Amjad Sabri’s killer resembles her missing son
Friday, June 24th, 2016 12:20:21 by fatimaarshadA woman from Karachi has come forward with the claim that the sketch released by the Sindh police of Amjad Sabri’s killer, closely resembles that of her missing son. The woman, identified as Hameeda Begum, belongs to Karachi’s Gizri neighborhood and she called a TV talk show, during which she made these revelations.
Hameeda Begum said that the sketch of the alleged killer matches close to 70 percent with that of her son. She further added that that her son, Nasir, used to wear the same kind of hat depicted by the police.
Hameeda Begum said that a man named Tahir Baloch came to their neighborhood and took her son with him in 2014. She said that she has been searching for Nasir ever since but there has been no trace of him. She had also lodged an FIR against Baloch at Clifton police station. When the case was registered, she found out that there were several cases registered against Baloch in different police stations of the city.
“If Amjad Sabri was murdered by my son then punish him… but at least his whereabouts should be known to his family after the passage of three years,” she stated.
So far the police have not been able to hunt down Sabri’s killers, but this piece of information is surely going to help them.
Amjad Sabri, was one of South Asia’s leading qawwal, who was gunned down by unidentified assailants in Karachi’s Liaquatabad area. Sabri was killed on the spot and his assailants managed to get away.
He was buried yesterday next to his father, and thousands of devotees attended Sabri’s funeral.
